Well, thanks Carl ,but the frame buffer is not the issue here.I compiled
the damn thing(specifically for
my Voodoo3) and I have a nice penguin
logo( kernel 2.3.9-pre8).Now I would want to replace that
with the Stormix logo(with the boot-up messages window),
The question is Which file in the kernel tree and where
provides the picture.I read somewhere that you need to convert a jpg,xpm
to a .c ,and I'm sure I can find that
if really, necessary. But Which .c is one that gives the logo?
That was my point,it's not documented anywhere,I'd be happy to read a
How-to or a document,considering I spent
already a lot of hours on this searching the net and reading a lot of
stuff and downloaded 2 kernels from
Storm's ftp site and one from kernel.org-what a waste of
resources for something that I'm sure can be answered in
one (short) phrase.

I don't know why everybody is giving general replys like
you need the framebuffer, you can have a nice logo....
gee,I compiled the framebuffer,I have the logo ,now I want to replace it
with somehting else.As i say in Windows I need 3 minutes including the
reboot to change the damn thing,in MAC you can't(afaik) yet ,in Linux
you can but it's reserved as far as I can see by what's available
on the net. I don't mind recompiling the kernel -took
me 5 minutes for the kernel and 3 minutes for modules
after my last upgrade so not a problem. /rant
OK ,I need a break..seeya later and thanks for trying.
