Luke,
First thing is to set your e-mail client to send in plain-text.
Next, ignore that disgnostic that says it isn't there... it is. Just hit
the continue button.
Use setup in the kppp window, when finished with that...
Open a terminal (console) and type su
it will then ask you for your root password... enter it
When at the root prompt type:
pppconfig
and follow the instructions.
Then change to /etc/ppp/
use your preferred editor and edit the file named
options
at about line 37 change auth to noauth. Save the file. Get out of the
editor.
When all finished and back at the prompt type exit or close the terminal
window with the little X in the upper right hand corner.
You should be back on your user desktop. Restart kppp and login...
You don't need to be messing with apt get or anything like that, yet.
One book that you should have in your library is "Learning Debian
GNU/Linux" by Bill McCarty. It's available from Barnes and Nobel, or
your local book store.
