It sounds like you don't really even need Linux for that.
Although Linux would make an excellent terminal.

It also sounds like you don't need X-Windows. This is good as
it would run very slowly on a 386.

Without a CD-ROM, I believe that Storm Linux isn't your best
option. It isn't really designed to be installed on machines
like that. Of course, you could go out and pick up the cheapest
CD-ROM drive you can find and install it in your machine... in
fact, this is without a doubt going to be your easiest option.

However, if you don't want to do that, you could instead
download an install disk set from http://www.debian.org/ The
disk set for Debian 2.1 is about 8 3.5" disks. For Debian 2.2,
it is a bit more.

You can then install from disk. It works quite well, though I
must say that Debian 2.2 is easier to install. Then if you have
a network connection to the Internet or a modem, you can install
the rest from an ftp site.

As you have a 386 with very little memory, you'll also want to
recompile your kernel after installing everything else. On a
386, it'll take perhaps four hours to do this (on my dual
celeron machine, it takes only about four minutes :). This will
help your machine run well with low memory.

Email me off-list if you have any specific, non-Storm questions.
Remember, though, that you are better off picking up a cheap
CD-ROM drive and installing from CD. A cheap drive can sell for
less than $40 U.S. and will save you hours of time.
