Try a dmesg and see if your card is recognized.  If you are running an ISA card make 
sure the card is in the  /etc/modules,  ie for a 3com 509 card edit in 3c509.

Then do a killall -HUP inetd or reboot your machine.  If you reboot you should see the 
card under a dmesg.  If you card fails to install check the irq's in the dmesg to make 
sure it is set correctly.

Once you can see your card, then install it with SAS network settings and the pppoe 
instructions everything should then work!
