Have you tried mounting it like this
mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /cdrom
I don't know but that may answer some questions.
Look at /etc/fstab to see what's in there. If you see a line about
the cdrom, post it here and we'll see if we can sort that out.
Should be fixable.
