I recently did a kernel rebuild. I included support for sb16. I went
to use xmms today, it would not start playing. I did an lsmod, and sb,
uart401, sound, soundcore were all there.
I ran SAS which detected the card correctly, and configured it seemingly
without a problem. I then hit play sound and nothing came out. I tried
configure card manually, but I kept getting an error regarding a
resource problem of irq 5 (no matter which irq I chose to use) and
isapnp. I am pretty sure soundcard was using irg 10 before. I then
tried So I rmmod -ed all of the 4 previously mentioned modules to avoid
conflicts. Then I tried again. This time sas let me use which ever irq
I wanted, but again I could hear no sound. Frustrated I just left "I
heard the sound" checked, and hit next. That is when i get the pop up
saying modprobe cannot locate modules midi?
I don't think I did anything different that usual w/r/t rebuilding the
kernel. I did install a pci scsi controller recently. I am wondering
if it is an irq conflict? Is there a way to see which irqs are taken?
Is is possible that I have run out?
I have 2 ide controllers should be irq 14,15? one pci video card, one
nic, one scsi controller, one soundcard, ps2 mouse and keyboard,
paralell port, usb port, serial port is deactivated via bios.
Oh yeah, my soundcard is a ISA PnP SB16 (Vibra) ->I think vibra is just
the oem version of this card.
Any hardware guru's out there?
