I recently built a cluster using LDAP, pam, and autofs to manage user
accounts and filesystems.

With slapd running, sas starts up fine, but won't bring up the users/groups
window. It seems as if the back-end useradd process isn't compatible with
LDAP or using pam.

Am I missing something here? Has anyone been able to use LDAP for
"sufficient" pam fields and still be able to open the users/groups window
under sas?

The users/groups window seems to be the only problem with sas. The other
options to the sas configuration work just fine.

I am able to use the command line to add passwd/group entries and to update
the ldap database. So I'm not dead in the water, just missing SAS.

[I also had to abandon gdm for wdm, as gdm apparently isn't compatible with
ldap just yet either.]

Message void if penguin violated.
Don't mess with the penguin.
