Hello - just got my Hail 2.06 system up and running. Here are some questions
that I have:
1) I recently tried RH7 - I switched back to storm because of some C
compiler issues (what a pain!). I had Helix Gnome up and running fine in RH.
I got and updated Helix on Storm. My question is this - with RH7 I was
offered many things pre-configured on my Gnome menu (ex Abiword, GAIM). In
Storm, while I have these, they are not initally available (at least after
upgrading). Just wondering why this is . . .
2) Can someone explain how to get the Woody packages? There are some things
that I want there. I have attempted this before, but I ended up ruining my
system. I guess a little hand holding may help from someone who has done
this successfully.
3) Can anyone explain how to get a remote printer to work? The module in SAS
seems to be more of a pain than anything!
4) My last question has to do with Java. I downloaded the source, untarred
it, and placed it in /usr/local/. With RH I was able to add the java /bin
directory to my PATH in /etc/profile and run java anywhere - but in Storm,
running java anywhere in the console seems not to work. To get it to run, I
have to be in the bin directory, and put the ./ before the command. With RH,
all I needed to do was to point my path to the bin directory and everything
seemed to work. Could this be a permission problem?
Sorry to pose so many questions - I just felt it better to leave to one
email so I don't clog up the mailing list more than I have :)
