sound seemed to work alright with kernel 2.2.18. I am just recently
(4 hrs) running 2.4.2. I am able to load the driver for the sound,
and I hear the speakers click as I did with 2.2.18.

But when I try and play an mp3 using xmms I get an error saying
'Floating point exception', and a crash. When I try and play an mp3
using mpg123, I get an error saying bitrate is not supported? If I play
a wav file with mpg123, it plays about 8x faster than it should???? I
even tried building mpg123 from source (while running 2.4.2).

I just rebooted and chose my 2.2.18 kernel at lilo prompt, and sound
works fine again????

Any ideas? I have a sneaking suspicion that it has nothing to do with
the sound driver.
