LBA mode was the correct one.  

It appears that your Windows partition (I'm assuming your 1st partition now
contains Windows) was not set up with exact LBA boundaries.  This can usually be
corrected by expanding or contracting that partition just a bit using PM. You
should run your Windows disk defragmenter first.

Make sure you have critical data backed up and a Win Startup diskette available
and verified before you shrink/expand.  Partition managers can fail.
