I started using linux with Stormix. That was 2 years ago. When I first
started, I purchased the starter ed., or in those days it was called the
std. ed. I purchased b/c I needed the support. Even with support I
felt helpless, coming from windows which I had considered myself a
guru. I gave up on linux. I had to concentrate on school work etc.
6mos. later I gave stormix another go. I just did the download this
time, and hopped on the mailing list. I was skeptical of mailing lists,
b/c good windows mailing lists are few and far b/n.
What a difference this mailing list has made!! I am very confy in
linux, have not dual booted for over a yr. I am not afraid of
installing new hardware with linux, I love the stability etc. I gained
much of this knowledge to this list. Guys like Mircea Luca, Phil Deakes
and Carl B. Constantine have been rocks on this list with timely
information. Even some of the stormix crew such as ryan murray or
maggie hamilton often stopped in to answer a question. And there were
tons of very knowledgable people that answered difficult questions
though I had not seen their name before: Garry, Forrest, todd witter.
I do not claim to give credit to all who deserve it. I know that I have
just scratched the surface here. But I just wanted to give thanks to
everyone who has made this list what it is..
