though there are too many cylinders involved for me! This splitter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bVAAx3mMKY&feature=related is more sensible but there is a much faster one at the Brougham, Ontario museum known as "History in Action". It is steam powered and uses a different principle, though the splitter seems low tech and reliable.
