It seems the labelling of things causes the creation of compartmentalized
thinking. That is definitely bad for stoves. Assisting an
inventor/discoverer to promote the idea that his invention can only be used
in one manner is also a bad idea. Stove performance is often in the hands of
the operator, and the operators are highly varied.

Your observations about an open fire (on the ground) having no air at the
centre is interesting - it explains why the fire create so much charcoal!
