Biochar.  There is a lot going on at the moment at the sister Biochar lists.

While detailed discussions of methods of analysis or carbon sequestration may 
be outside the interest of most people on this list topics relevant to stoves 
are how biochar from stoves or rural kilns is being used in demonstration 
projects to improve soils and plant growth, reduce deforestation, etc. 
Experiences from the field on the production of biochar in stoves and 
subsequent use in garden plots would be welcome.
