Its always good to hear from you.
Regarding your request for creating activated carbon filter for purifying
water, I am taking the liberty of passing this on to the stoves and the
biochar online discussion groups, as these groups contain a host of really
sound technical resource persons with year os experience from all over
the globe.
This seems to be a whole new application of/ rationale for biochar eh ?
Anybody ?

I got this brewing opportunity to help the victims of the big disasters
in the south of the Philippines, in the city of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro
where about 2,000 persons died from the big floods last 16 to 17

fuels and water filters. Im quite confident with the stoves by now, but
not the water filter.
I would like to make a water filter using activated carbon. We know that
we can carbonize wood and other biomass materials in the rocket stove
simply by controlling the inflow of air while cooking.
But from the raw carbon, it has to be activated, that is making it
acquire a huge surface area. I once did an activated carbon by passing
steam into a coloumn of wood charcoal inside a bamboo pole. But now i
cannot remember the right procedure anymore. This i would like to seek
your help on how to make it in a post disaster situation. I guess, there
will be a lot of wood debri of timber, wood stick plus... pieces of metal
and other parts of the house.
The stoves and water purifier will help the victims a great deal. And i
would like to make my mark and gain my experience.
