That is another cultural question. (Being here and seeing how people do things makes it a lot harder than seeing what looks good "on paper". As amazing as it may seem, few people soak the beans first. My wife now does and maybe her mother does. From what I see on the ground, acceptance will happen first with kids who, sometimes, will educate their parents. As an example, when I was first in Nicaragua I was renting a small house in a poor neighborhood. How poor? On my block, there were five houses sharing an outhouse. Because I had an "interesting" dog, neighborhood kids were the first to visit. I set up a Linux-based computer in my livingroom just to see what would happen. One of the kids quickly became "the teacher" even though she had never touched a computer before. The photos at http://www.nicaliving.com/image/tid/25 are samples of what happened. While the parents knew this was happening and knew they were welcome as well, none of them ever touched the computer. So, to answer your question, I think it will be years and maybe generations before you will be able to make significant change. I have, for example, a solar oven. I have cooked rice, veggies, lentils and other things in it. But, there isn't anyone around ready to give a solar oven a try. > > AJH > > > _______________________________________________ > Stoves mailing list > > to Send a Message to the list, use the email address > [email protected] > > to UNSUBSCRIBE or Change your List Settings use the web page > > http://lists.bioenergylists.org/mailman/listinfo/stoves_lists.bioenergylists.org > > for more Biomass Cooking Stoves, News and Information see our web site: > http://www.bioenergylists.org/ > > -- Phil Hughes [email protected]
