Yeast is indeed used to accelerate decomposition. Just did a simple first order google search of " yeast for accelerating decomposition of plant material, for making compost… Nothing new and apparently there are more options that just "yeast" per se: • Any of several options are available ranging form you flat beer from last evening's bash, to coca cola. • Decomposition with yeast is most effective when done erobically and temperature is kept under 160º F . The use of Kal or slaked lime powder as mentioned earier, -- sprinkled as a ring around the pile of decomposing yeast-accelerated leaves--, is more for keeping the insects out of the mixture than accelerating decomposition though..
