Ed,

Do you know what crops predominate in her project area? The TLUD stoves like a consistent fuel. Knowing what fuel is available will help in configuring/tuning a stove for it.

I assume Nicola is in Sucumbios in the Lago Agrio area.

Are her clients indigenous or colonists? Fixed or shifting agriculture?

If the primary goal is to provide charcoal for water purification, there are several designs for portable kilns that could be used to process slash.

I am afraid that with the recently announced exploitation of Yasuni, there will be many more incidents like Texaco or the oil pipeline rupture earlier this year.

Only a few hundred in the protests today. Not much hope of getting widespread public sympathy when oil revenue is paying the bono.

P.S. Is there a problem with pollution from flares mixing with the rainwater?

Hello, my name is Ed, I noticed this thread and I was wondering whether anybody is in a position to help or to advise a friend of mine.

My friend Nicola has been working with Ecuadorian peasants to try to improve their lives following serious water and ground oil pollution incidents caused by Texaco over 20 years ago.
