I think having a full time council is one of the best things to happen in a long time.
No where in the article does it say that they are going to be a full time council, they are still a part time council, they still only have one legislative aid, they still only meet once a week, they still no longer have committee's nothing has changed.
The only thing that has really changed is that they are gonna be getting a whole lot more money to do the very same thing they do now. Other than it has offered to some a bit more income I see no changes in the character of the council, not yet anyway maybe we will but I doubt it. I am sure that the few council members that actually have jobs or had jobs will attempt to keep them. Would you give up a second income if you were only working PART TIME and you get a fat pay raise for your Part Time work?
Wait and see what happens, the idea that because they are getting a pay raise means we are gonna get more out of them than we already do is a bit premature.
