Hi All! I have uppped my prilosec otc dosage in synch with the nice uptick in the list traffic. We'll never catch Mpls, but I've always kinda liked being associated with the "second city". Kinda smug about it, not to even mention that my adopted city of Falcon Heights is kinda stuck right into the heart of St Paul like a square peg. I'm like kinda not kinda gonna use kinda anymore in this post. You are welcome. Kind of. It is clear that the folks who take the time to tap out their ideas to share are by and large thoughtful and concerned citizens, and that is good. Screw balance. Try to find a conservative on the Mpls list that hasn't been pilloried and banished! Well, on to the topic at last. Read carefully, please. I promise not to SHOUT ;-) 1. E-mail etiquette suggests NOT quoting entire previous posts at the end of you magnum opus's (magnum opi?) Think always of the receiving end of your fine work. It is not too bad when you take one post at a time, although you have to read and hit DEL more often, but it is still a waste of bandwidth to let your email program automatically quote the post you are replying to. 2. Set your send option to "Text Only." Again, if you get them one at a time and your email program is HTML friendly, it's livable. So what's the big deal? Some of us who prefer the very much more efficient "digest mode" wherein posts are sent many at a time in one email, have to wade thru gallons of quoted posts and dead sea scrolls of HTML. Hard to get to the gist of many posts, easy to miss a pearl of wisdom. Hey, I don't mind seeing my own pearls cast repeatedly on the sea of internetspace, but once is enough, even for me! If you want to respond point by point, use the fine are of cut and paste. That's very cool. Mitch and others are masters of this art. But if you just want to fire back a salvo, leave the orginal off the end of your post....we've all read it for chrissakes. I have made similar pleas to other lists I am on (far from policital, btw) and it usually works for a few weeks until the dreaded "newbies" join in. I suppose the same gist of what I'm getting at is in the list rules, but I never read 'em. St Paul specific and two posts a day and use your name and town and I can figure out the rest. Cheers and Happy New Year PK Falcon Heights Second Post of Day, Text Message, No quotes, No HTML Alright, PK=Paul Kuettel. Rules is Rules. _____________________________________________ NEW ADDRESS FOR LIST: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To subscribe, modify subscription, or get your password - visit: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/stpaul Archive Address: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/private/stpaul/ _____________________________________________ For state and national discussions see: http://e-democracy.org/discuss.html For external forums, see: http://e-democracy.org/mninteract
