Phone: 651-488-4927. WHY : We need a specifically Green discussion of PRT technology and how it squares with the Green vision. Along with the technical questions, the SKYWEB raises important issues about its effects on the social environment. The Green Party of St. Paul is sponsoring a forum with Dr. Ed Anderson, a recognized world leader in PRT who has built a prototype on view in Fridley, and Dean Zimmerman, a Green public official seeking to implement this new technology. Their presentations will give us valuable information to decide how this transit system might fit into Green visions for the future of transit and society. * What is PRT? What is it not? How have environmental and social concerns influenced the SKYWEB system throughout its history? A live animated demonstration of the actual control software will be shown. (Anderson) *How does it compare to other transit options economically, environmentally, socially? (Anderson) *What is the status of planning for the testing and construction of PRT in Minneapolis? The presentation made to the City Council of Minneapolis will be given. It proposes PRT lines with 68 stations in Ward 6, which encompasses Seward, the West Bank, and parts of Uptown and the Hiawatha corridor. (Zimmermann) *How can the Green vision of sustainability and a greener society influence the development of this technology right in our backyard?/ (group discussion) NOTE to attendees: Parking is plentiful at the Black Bear Crossing. It is also served by a bus. No outside food may be brought into the meeting rooms. Coffee will be available. --David Shove Roseville _____________________________________________ NEW ADDRESS FOR LIST: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To subscribe, modify subscription, or get your password - visit: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/stpaul Archive Address: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/private/stpaul/ _____________________________________________ For state and national discussions see: http://e-democracy.org/discuss.html For external forums, see: http://e-democracy.org/mninteract
