Hello, I'm John Sherman I have lived for 15 years very near the corner of
Wheelock and Dale, a very small location that seems to be claimed by no
neighborhood.

I was grew up in Saint Paul, graduating from Cretin High School and Hamline
University. Moved to sophisticated Washington, DC (actually Arlington,
Virginia) for ten years. Then moved back to Saint Paul and have been in Saint
Paul for 20 years. I have two daughters who spent K-12 in the Saint Paul school
system and had average SAT scores 1400 including perfect 800's for both of them
on the verbal sections for both. (Clearly the school system is failing in their
math education.) I also have four nieces and a nephew who are scholars in the
Saint Paul schools. And another prospective nephew three years away from
entering the system.

I have not been involved on any of the school district committees. But I have
worked to elect school board members in every election since 1983. I am an
active DFL'er having held office in the party in the city for better than two
decades including stints as the chair of the 4th congressional district DFL
central committee.

Professionally I am a budget analyst/ program evaluator/ contract administrator
for the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Developmnet working in
the areas of employment for individuals with serious disabilities.

I am a avid 'lurker' on this forum but the discussion on schools is getting too
delicious and may force me to change my triflin' ways.

John Sherman
