Index of SPPS Budget Discussion http://www.e-democracy.org/stpaul/spps-posts.html _________________________________________ Councilmembers Benanav, Lantry, Helgen and Thune courageously passed a resolution yesterday against Mayor Kelly's proposed 3% restaurant and bar tax to fund a new Twins Satidum in Saint Paul.
"A deeply divided City Council took a stand Wednesday against raising bar and restaurant taxes to pay for a baseball stadium in St. Paul, dealing a setback to Mayor Randy Kelly's bid to lure the Minnesota Twins from Minneapolis." http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress/8099968.htm Hopefully "leaders" like Mayor Kelly and Deputy Mayor Flaherty will start to get the message that in serious economic times like these, and during normal times as well, most citizens are far more concerned about essential city services and rebuilding Saint Paul's infrastructure and restoring services that have been cut, as opposed to building playhouses for billionaire owners and multi-million players. These Council Members will get a great deal of heat and flak from the Mayor when he returns from Thailand, as well the folks in Trades and Labor and the hacks on talk radio. Call them or send them an e-mail to show them your support. And when the stuff starts to fly, those of you who are opposed to spending our tax dollars in these way, show your support for them by sending a letter to the editor or call in KFAN, Sourecery or Jason Lewis, when they start to blast these good Council members. However, this gives the message that we know what is right in Saint Paul and we know how to keep our priorities straight. It makes me proud to know that we have such fine representatives in City Hall. Dan Dobson Summit Hill - Saint Paul [EMAIL PROTECTED] __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
