Index of SPPS Budget Discussion http://www.e-democracy.org/stpaul/spps-posts.html _________________________________________ Does anyone else find it troubling the "I hate conservatives" speak coming from people who bend over backwards to make sure all groups are taken care of? The blind, gays, minorities, the poor, the unions? go figure.
On the vote. If the members were listening to the overwhelming majority I keep hearing that don't want a dime of public money spent on a "millionaires playgroud" then voting against the mayor shouldn't matter? So the chamber or the mayor lines up a candidate against a member. Why would it matter if the incumbent was pleasing the poeple who are voting? I appreciate the ideas of why it was courageous but I am not buying it. More and more I think that the overwhelming majority isn't as large as it is reported and those who have set up their lobbying groups (another irony) are now telling us, or at least me, that something that was a no-brainer is now courageous. I didn't think the council worked for the mayor anyway. Look, I don't disagree with what the council did. I just don't see it being courageous or something of significance. It sounds to me that the council did their job representing the people of their wards. I-35E. Mary brought up some good points. I am an amateur gardener and shrubs and small trees are sensitive to chemicals. They are also sensitive to the type of soil they are planted in, how much food they get, how much water they get. Are the areas where the greenery is planted irregated? Is there a lot of bird life around to provide some natural fertilizer. Is the soil they planted them in able to sustain the types of plants the put there, does it drain well or stay swampy? I don't doubt that any elevated levels of CO can play a part in the demise of these plants. Also, the oils, chemicals and what not that gets plowed over the area during the winter can't be good for them. I just don't think one thing caused the inability to grow small trees there, certainly not just exhaust. Slower drivers are not always more careful than faster drivers. slower drivers can and do cause accidents. Sure you have more reaction time but when you are doing 45 in a 55 and decide to move yourself to the left lane not giving the driver already over there doing 55 not enough time to slow down or evade, whose fault is that? Happens all the time especially with people afraid to merge into traffic when traffic is going the posted. John Harris webber-camden __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
