I have the information I wanted to see. While Councilmember Thune suggests that maybe this list should not be posted, fine, I won't do it. However, by submitting this list to the council, it became a matter of public record, call the City Clerk, you can have it too.

And on Dan's idea of Let's see the list and my idea of "If You Want A StadiumTax", I and my and maybe my "buddies" don't intend to change what businesses we patronize at all, I just might ask about it while I'm there. Whether or not a business owner decides they would be opposed is their choice, do you think I'd let those breakfasts at the Copper Dome that my kids enjoy so much go by the wayside? Not a chance, there is a bigger picture.

Here is a tax Dan Dobson is opposed to, I guess there has to be one.

I also refuse to sell short the integrity of City employees, to suggest they would go after a business that is on the list of 80 (or is there?) is absolutely ludicrous. Or maybe Mayor Kelly will just send out one of his "boys". Dan, you're your own worst enemy.

Furthermore, Dan's failure to link exisitng taxes, and leaving the option for patronizing places that support one tax or another is typical. All of Hennipin County gets to pay a portion of the operating costs of LRT, even if their business does not benefit from the line. It's crazy talk.

In closing, its Bostrom, with an "o".

I have a copy of the list and was going to post it, having been given a copy right after the Press Conference by PAT HILL, (my apologies, I was told that I gave credit earlier to Pat's erstwhile brother, Dennis), but after Dave's warning, and seeing how Mayor Kelly doesn't hesitate to punish errant city council members by closing down fire engines in their ward, one can only imagine what Mayor Kelly's "boys" might do to a bar or restaurant that opposes the Mayor.

I have dealt with the City Inspectors from hell and
trust me, you don't want them in your house, building
or apartment. As Dave said, "But they would never do
that."

If Matt makes a call or two he should be able to find
a copy as it was supplied to all of the City Council
members.

But I go back to my original idea that I posted
several months ago. Since Matt and his buddies, Eagle
Street Bar, Dixie's, Fabulous Fern's and Tom Reid's
all seem to be in favor of the 3% food and liquor tax,
I once again suggest that we levy the tax ONLY ON
THOSE BARS AND RESTAURANTS that think it's a good idea
to build a stadium in Saint Paul. Those bars and
restaurants that want the tax would be free to impose
it on their customers and those bars and restaurants
that don't want a stadium would be exempt from the
tax.

Heck, those bars and restaurants that want the stadium
could post, or maybe we could require them to post,
big signs in their windows, "3% bar and restaurant tax
imposed here to pay for a new stadium". That way, the
supporters of a new stadium, like Matt, Mayor Kelly,
Matt Smith, Martha Fuller, Dan Bostrum and Pat Harris
could patronize those places that want the stadium,
while those of us who oppose the stadium could avoid
those places.

Isn't that fair? Only those who want the stadium would
pay for it and those of us who oppose it don't have to
pay.

John,

I did not assemble a list of 70 or whatever number of
businesses there are in support of a 3% tax.

Someone out there said they have 80 (maybe 81)
businesses that oppose it, all I am saying is I'd like
to see the list. You can use this listserve to make
a similar request to those that put the supporters
list together.

If there is a list of 80, (maybe 81) businesses,
let's see it!

Meanwhile, I'll keep my shoes tied and my feet
planted firmly on the ground.
