Neighborhood schools fear cutbacks
http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/news/local/8211945.htm
BY JOHN WELBES

"Parents at some St. Paul neighborhood schools fear they will take the biggest hits in education budget cuts next year.

The St. Paul district is trying to fix a projected $12 million deficit for the 2004-05 academic year. As details of needed budget reductions have arrived at each school's site council in recent weeks, parents say they're being asked to handle disproportionately deep cuts. They also worry they're losing more students to magnet schools, which can provide citywide busing and draw kids from across the city."
