I've noted and responded (privately) to the attempt to make this discussion about personalities in our forum and divert attention away from the issue.
Thanks - to those who have resisted this urge.
I've had a number of comments from political observers about the increasing quality and relevance of the discussions in our forum. That is very much the result of the thought and care that participants have put into their participation.
Thanks to Chuck for adding some historical background to this discussion. I'm wondering about the following statement (from Chuck's post):
I would think that the legislature would be interested in seeing the City of Saint Paul once again weigh in on the subject.
The example that Chuck gave, was of the state emulating a human rights ordinance passed in St. Paul.
I think that we're talking about a "resolution" and not an "ordinance."
Does this matter? Will a "resolution" really have any impact at the capital?
Finally, is the city role in this case, limited to a resolution - or are there other avenues of action that the city might take?
Thanks for your participation,
