Index of SPPS Budget Discussion

I would NOT like to be involved in a forum discussion where some people
flippantly present either their whole-hearted support or racist
perspectives -- not only because I'm sick of hearing that, but primarily
because I don't think it deepens anyone's understanding of anything.

I'd like to thank Anne Carroll for jumping in on this issue. As usual, she provided some interesting information for this discussion. However, her comments (and others that I got offline) suggest that I might have been unclear about my own intentions.

Let me clarify.

The purpose of my inquiry was to ask for volunteers to help organize a structured discussion sometime in the future about this refugee issue. Possibly after the report that was mention is available.

I AM looking for individuals with knowledge to bring to the discussion and am even considering an alternative online space for the discussion. It was not my intention to start the discussion today, although participants should feel free to jump right in and start the discussion now.

So far, I've heard back from one individual with specific knowledge on this issue who is also willing to play an active role in the above mentioned discussion sometime in the near future. I'd really like 1 or 2 of the members of the delegation to Thailand who might be willing to provide first hand accounts of the trip for us and possibly take some questions from our group. That might prove an interesting opportunity for a "CHAT" session. I usually avoid CHATS, but there are appropriate uses for them and they can be useful from time to time.

If anyone else is interested in this particular "EVENT" or "DISCUSSION," please contact me.

Best wishes,
