And what planet do you live on, Mike? Or is there an alternate dimension around here that I have been denied access to? The media these days has a decidedly more conservative bent than ever before, which is hardly surprising when you consider how few independent media sources there are these days. Corporate owned outlets are more concerned with keeping advertisers happy than in rocking the boat. Look at the coverage of last Mondays rally about the "save marriage" amendment. Every major station I saw talked about the huge number of supporters. There was no attempt to show dissenters or provide even basic information about what such an amendment would really mean to the people of Minnesota. The bus strike coverage has had some balance in that they have provided talking heads from both sides of the issue but there has been no real in depth analisys of what is at stake. We get the party line from national and state press corps but no real challenge to what is being said. The other day I posted a link to Mark Twain's THE WAR PRAYER and I will repost it here: http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/making/warprayer.html A liberal press would sound like the messenger. All we have now are transcribers of the sermon. During February sweeps, one of our news departments ran a feature they have done for the 2nd year in a row where they compare the prices at Cub, Rainbow and Target and announced that Target was lower. No mention was made of the fact that Cub and Rainbow are union stores and Target fights unionizing tooth and nail. Must be some more of that LIBERAL press!!
