We knew GSE was behind so much of the pain and suffering in West Seventh
over the last few years, but who would have figured that they are behind
in so much else.

Per yesterday's StarTrib -- "... tax records in Ramsey County indicate
that the company owes slightly more than $1 million for 2003 property
taxes, previous sewer and water charges, storm sewer construction,
street maintenance assessments and other miscellaneous charges,
including late-payment penalties and interest."  

Dorothy McClung, Ramsey County director of property records and revenue,
said the company has until late July 2007 to make good on the
obligations before forfeiture could happen.

The nation's only urban ethanol plant, at the former Schmidt brewery on
W. 7th Street, is subsidized by state taxpayers who pay the company
millions of dollars a year for production of the alternative fuel. ... "
