-------------------------------------------------- Do You Have Any Questions About St. Paul Government or Politics? Please Post Them Here. --------------------------------------------------
Last fall, I participated in a three day workshop on using Peacemaking Circles for Restorative Justice. A process of seeking justice through "healing" as opposed to "punishment."
Today there is an interesting article/column in the Pioneer Press by Rubn Rosario (see below) about the work being done by the Summit University-Frogtown Community Circle. I've heard a little bit about this project, but not a lot.
Is anyone in this forum involved in any Restorative Justice projects in St. Paul?
Do any of the district councils participate in or use community circles for resolving conflicts in their community?
If you have any information or experiences, please share....
(I'm sure that others in this forum would be interested in this information, so I encourage you to take this opportunity and post a public response.)

Sentencing alternative breaks circle of crime

For defendants, entering the Community Circle can be demanding, even more so than prison, but it can turn lives around

"Support and patience are keys to success. If the criminal justice system is like an assembly line at a warehouse, the circle process is more like a greenhouse, where constant feeding, care and monitoring are required in order for plants and flowers to grow and thrive."
