The StarTribune has an article in todays paper that answered some of the questions that I had about the soon to arrive Hmong refugees.

5,000 Hmong refugees expected http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/4804835.html Matt Mckinney, Star Tribune June 1, 2004HMONG0601
"In the St. Paul School District, a task force has looked for places to put the children. The district has 50 elementary schools, nine middle schools and seven senior high schools, plus one K-12 school. The district had 42,510 students last year.
The school district plans to keep the students together in a few schools rather than spread them around the district, a strategy that district official Maria Lem said would help the students in the first few months after their arrival. Siblings, especially, will be grouped into the same school to make it easier for their parents."
