A few interesting notes from an article in today's paper.

Mayor Kelly opposes city smoking ban http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/news/local/8821974.htm?ERIGHTS=-8130702366724738876twincities
-----------------------------
#1) Mayor Kelly opposes the ban as written and is looking for compromise.
#2) "A host of compromise ideas are floating around City Hall. One proposal would exempt small bars that serve little food from the smoking ban. Some council members said they were open to discussing this idea, but they had questions about how to define which bars to exempt.
Another option would allow bars to create "smoking rooms" with separate ventilation systems. Under this proposal, bartenders and service workers wouldn't be allowed to serve drinks or food in the rooms."
#3) "Four votes are needed to pass the ban. Three council members - Thune, Jay Benanav and Lee Helgen - back the ban as proposed. Council Member Kathy Lantry has said she is "leaning toward" supporting it but remains open to exempting to some bars or creating smoking rooms."
