"Ruminator Books, St. Paul's stridently independent literary oasis, is dead. It was 34.
Owner and founder David Unowsky said Monday the nationally acclaimed bookstore at 1648 Grand Av. will close by the end of July, after years of financial problems. Officials at neighboring Macalester College, the store's longtime landlord, said lease negotiations broke down with Ruminator owing the school about $500,000."
