I find it fascinating, however, that (at least) three cops in the last 30 years served as school board chairs - Jim Griffin, Dan Bostrom and Corky Finney. Finney was Jim Griffin's prot�g� both on the police force and in the pursuit of leadership position. Let's be clear about all this: I want to see several people step up to the plate to challenge Kelly's re-election. I want this Mayor to be a one-termer. It's critical for St. Paul that he *be* a one-termer. If Corky Finney winds up the winner of a primary (and there will be a primary), he gets my vote. Period. But I want several people to enter the race and discuss the issues. Corky would, I hope, still make far and away the better mayor than the present occupant.
