"I believe others have covered the fact that you're comparing apples to oranges by
linking having to hear opinions as similar to being forced to inhale second-hand
smoke."

No one is forcing you to inhale anything, ask Bill Clinton he didn't inhale, of course
he didn't have sex with that woman either, and then....what is the definition of is?
You don't have to go where there is second hand smoke. Ideological studies have
results on both sides of the issue. Those showing grave danger and then there are
those studies that refute the danger. My point is that you seem to like to infringe
on my perceived rights, and actually take it lightly, with a bit of laughter. When
your perceived rights are infringed you get angry and write visceral letters.

"It seems that you may share kinship with whomever may have objected to being
approached
at the Farmer's Market by canvassers linked to the Democratic Party"

Yes sir...

"I can't get one minute into my day without hearing about
the g-d da-- "War on Terrorism" or "9-11" or the war in Iraq or the Patriot Act or
Al-Qaeda."

And when we stop combating terrorism globally and it comes to St Paul in the form of
homicide bombings, dirty bombs, or planes flying into buildings killing our fellow St
Paulites you will I'm sure blame that on Bush too. Let's keep the fight there, not
here, God Bless the USA and her troops here and overseas. They will strike us again
and I pray that it's not here in St Paul.

"We need lots more Democratic canvassers everywhere, not just at the Farmer's Market,
because it might just turn out that this country isn't willing to throw in the towel
yet to GWB and his ilk, not willing to see
if he can complete the Orwellian nightmare that began with his election."

You need a lot more than canvassers. You need a majority. You don't have it, won't
have it, because the ideology you are professing may sell in the microcosm of this
urban setting, but it won't in the heartland and the soul of the USA, it just don't
cut it in Peoria. The new DFL seems know what's best for me and the liberals are
going to make laws to control my every thought, action and deed that doesn't march
lock step with their secular philosophy. I can't believe that the DFL has turned into
the who can I give a handout to today for a vote and the smoking control police in St
Paul. I do like the Orwellian nightmare statement though, kind of like the
obstructionist state senate here.

"Lastly, before you suggest that I'm a minority and "vocal" opinion, take a look at
the
voting results in the last election."

I believe I responded to that above. St Paul may vote that way, but Minnesota is
moving more GOP than DFL, St Paul will follow. I believe that is why this "vocal"
minority is trying to make so much noise and recoup it's lost power, Governor
Pawlenty, the House, Senator Coleman, etc. Oh, but the DFL does know how to drink at
the capital when our elected representatives are supposed to be voting on our behalf.

"but he lost "his" city by a 2 to 1 margin in the Senate race in 2002"

But he won "his" state in the Senate race against the best the DFL could muster, a
former VP, he also would have soundly defeated Wellstone, whose ideas were/are
outdated and basically socialistic, oops I mean progressive. Can we say vive la
france.

"Now perhaps we Democrats can take it back from the faux Democrat Kelly in 2005"

Don't care, DFL infighting. I'll still vote for the GOP candidate, or maybe I'll vote
for Kelly he hasn't done such a bad job.

"So expect lots more "unwanted" opinions in the public squares around town."

Then I'll take my money and business elsewhere. If the DFL wants to be that way I'll
let the St Paul businesses know why I don't support them with my purchases. I'll let
the Chamber know why I shop outside St Paul. I don't have to go to the town square
and listen to propaganda from the DFL. I can go to Rosedale, Maplewood, Eden Prairie,
Minnetonka or anywhere to shop, might even get a bargain.

You can pass all the regulations you want. All you'll do is move people to shop,
recreate and spend their money in other places. That may be fine with you. But when
the tax base goes down even further with vacant storefronts downtown, you'll know who
to blame, and I'm sure it will be the GOP and LGA cuts.

This is actually fun, being one of the very few who support the GOP on this forum.
Actually I am not a Republican, I'm a conservative, fiscal and social, I have my
disagreements with the GOP also. I guess this has been a one sided liberal forum for
too long.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I believe others have covered the fact that you're comparing apples to oranges by
linking having to hear opinions as similar to being forced to inhale second-hand
smoke. And I'm sorry that you choose to politicize my comments by bringing in Gore v.
Bush and other irrelevant stuff. In case you missed it, I started out by criticizing
the decision to essentially ban Operation Rescue, hardly a Democratic institution. It
seems that you may share kinship with whomever may have objected to being approached
at the Farmer's Market by canvassers linked to the Democratic Party, i.e., eventhough
there is no evidence that the canvassers were rude or behaved inappropriately, let's
ban them from the area simply because they wanted to talk about politics. You lament
there not being a place that can be free of politics, and I laugh, because everything
about the current Republican leadership locally and national is completely political,
every act a political one. I can't get one minute into my day without hearing about
the g-d da-- "War on Terrorism" or "9-11" or the war in Iraq or the Patriot Act or
Al-Qaeda. Yet you want the Democrats to steer clear of people who don't want to listen
to a different message? Tell you what: We need lots more Democratic canvassers
everywhere, not just at the Farmer's Market, because it might just turn out that this
country isn't willing to throw in the towel yet to GWB and his ilk, not willing to see
if he can complete the Orwellian nightmare that began with his election.

Lastly, before you suggest that I'm a minority and "vocal" opinion, take a look at the
voting results in the last election. We St. Paulites voted overwhelmingly Democratic.
Norm Coleman may have bamboozled enough people to get elected in 1993 and 1997
(primarily because the DFL put up such weak candidates against him), but he lost "his"
city by a 2 to 1 margin in the Senate race in 2002. Now perhaps we Democrats can take
it back from the faux Democrat Kelly in 2005. So expect lots more "unwanted" opinions
in the public squares around town.
