One of the posters said, "we can't even have fireworks here in Minnesota."

That's mysterious to me. I was told that when I first moved here five years ago - no private fireworks, public displays only. But then in the weeks leading up to the 4th our neighborhood set off more ordinance than an army on manuevers. A couple years passed and suddenly there were fireworks booths everywhere. (Conversely, there was a lot less usage in the neighborhood... I'm not sure what was at work there. Maybe the worst perpetrators grew up, or maybe once it was legalized it wasn't as exciting.)

I know this 4th of July there were fireworks for sale in Cub grocery stores. The selection and type are limited - no bottle rockets, nothing that's really, really explosive, etc. But there were certainly fireworks here in Minnesota.
