For those of you who were ecstatic (or at least pleased ;-) when the MN Thunder professional soccer team moved back to its roots here in St. Paul and made Griffin Stadium at Central High School it's home field, below is some information from St. Paul Coach Buzz Lagos about an upcoming game on 7/20 that should be absolutely, positively fantastic! For this first year, the St. Paul school district limited the Thunder's use of this field to about 10 games so this one is at the Metrodome, but log on to https://www.mnthunder.com/ to what's going on, where, for the rest of the season! (From Coach Lagos) Most of you know that on July 20, the LA Galaxy is coming to Minnesota to play our Thunder in the round of sixteen for the US Open Cup Championship. The Galaxy is currently the top team in Major League Soccer. Their stars, forwards Carlos Ruiz and Jovan Kirovski, midfielders Cobi Jones and Andreas Herzog, and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman are exciting players who are currently in top form. This year our Thunder has a strong group of very talented young players combined with veterans Joe Warren, Marco Ferruzzi and Amos Magee. Our team is looking forward to this "David vs. Goliath" match up. We are excited about the opportunity to play the Number 1 team in MLS for we know that upsets are what make the US Open Cup such an entertaining tournament. I hope that you can attend this game.
