NEWS FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD UPDATE

A few of you may have just gotten a similar email with one small error - the St.
Thomas Hearing will be next WEDNESDAY, not THURSDAY as the email wrongly stated. This
is the corrected version.

ALLEY GARDEN AWARD MAPS AVAILABLE

Put your comfortable shoes on - you've got 320 gardens to visit! Starting Friday
evening, July 23rd, Alley Garden Award maps will be placed at locations around the
neighborhood. Look for the bright yellow flags! The maps show the gardens
participating in the Self-Guided Tour and will be available at the following
locations: Widmer's Grocery, Edgcumbe Recreation Center, Hillcrest Recreation Center,
Dunn Brothers Coffee on Grand, Kowalski's Grand Market, Grand Avenue Hardware, Korte's
Supermarket, Brewberries, and Mississippi Market. The map will also be available
online at www.macgrove.org next week.

ST THOMAS EXPANSION TO BE HEARD NEXT WEDNESDAY AT CITY COUNCIL

At 5:30pm on WEDNESDAY, July 28th, in City Council Chambers, the St. Paul City Council
will hear the Macalester-Groveland Community Council's appeal of the St. Thomas
expansion decision. While the Community Council supports the expansion of the
University under certain conditions, we believe the Planning Commission did not place
sufficient controls in its conditions for the expansion of the University. Without
the City enacting stronger conditions as part of its expansion approval, the Community
Council does not support the expansion.
