Over here the cost for city garbage collection is included in our utility
bills, or the water and sewer bill. We must rent our cans from the city as
well, we do not own them. I don't mind the city picking up the garbage but i
do wish we could buy the cans. It cost, I think, $4 a month for a 40 gallon
can. so, that can has cost me nearly $100 since i have moved in and it is like
fine wine, it keeps getting more expensive as it ages. probably could have
bought it from them for $50. As for it being cheaper or not, it is about the
same as my mom pays in st paul. i think it is a wash.
the city still plows alleys. i think it was on the table last year to quit
doing that but it survived. that, i believe, comes out of the city budget paid
for by prop taxes.
We do get a $7 recycling credit, if you recycle. i don't produce enough to
have recycling every two weeks but i get the credit every month. they will
pick up my old wash machine for free. dig that.
