My response:

The elected body of government certainly has some level of accountability to
"us." However, the majority of government are appointed and have no real
accountability to "us."

Contrast that with corporations. Everyday you get to vote on which
corporation will provide products to you. The ones you don't purchase from
must ultimately change, accept a smaller market, or go out of business.
Your DAILY vote impacts everyone involved with the corporation.

Many are posting about the "Greed" of corporations. I am much more scared
of the power some government officials have.

My response:

The problem with your response is that the tax cuts went to everyone. The
question is fundamental, are we better to have the market decide the
(financial) winners and losers or the government. We can probably all agree
that when the government funds stadiums for sports teams, they make a bad
choice. However, I am always surprised at the number that don't feel that
way when the government funds other welfare programs.

This post started as a question about renaming the Olson Memorial highway.
I think it is a big mistake. Olson had a huge impact on Minnesota and it is
appropriate that he is honored. I hope other areas of the Twin Cities look
for ways to honor Reagan. I suspect things are in the works.

Regards, Bill.
