I'd like to speak up for sweetness and innocence, read compromise, for a minute. One compromise here might well be to move the effective date away from the present a bit. All the points about artificial discriminations between businesses and the resulting evasions seem well taken, so that's probably a non-starter. But I think the real nature of the disagreement here is that some folks have evolved in their thinking to where they really in their gut understand that this is a public health, human life issue. Others, many with their livelihood at stake, aren't ready yet to see it that way. Yet if the facts really are that there is a decisive risk to life to be removed, and significant health care costs to be avoided, then giving people some additional time to come to terms with this relatively new set of facts can only do good. In the long run, reality will win. Isn't that basically what was done in Bloomington? Give people some time to change their habits, find a different job they like better, change their market positioning, even sell a business they think is damaged to someone else who thinks it's enhanced. Still looking for the sensible center.... Dave Hutcheson North St. Paul _____________________________________________ To Join: St. Paul Issues Forum Rules Discussion Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
