What happened in Russia is heartbreaking and makes me furious. What everyone needs to know, however, is that our schools are one of the safest places you can be, and we work hard to keep them safe while making sure they also remain warm and welcoming. It's very that everyone -- teachers, students, parents, staff, volunteers, administrators -- maintain vigilance by following the safety policies and procedures that are in place. When you visit one of our schools, make sure you check in at the school office, wear your ID badges, and report any suspicious behavior immediately.
We also work very hard as a community to value and respect all youth and adults in our schools -- as that, too, plays a huge role in creating a safe and nurturing environment in which our diverse learners can achieve. As always, we welcome community members into our schools in support of all learners. Do come by, visit, and see the great things that are happening in St. Paul Schools as we start this new school year. -- Anne Carroll, St. Paul School Board ------------------------------------------------------------ Anne R.
