Otis White's Urban Notebook has an article that relates the added cost of Wall Marts to the public. In teh past we have discussed the cost to mom and pop stores when a Wall Mart enters a community. Now, using a term "Negative Externalities" researchers at the University of California at Berkeley�s Labor Center did a study to determine the cost to the community of employers like Wall Mart.

This includes the added cost to welfare roles for low waged employees, he added cost to schools etc. You can read the article using the link below. It is the second article in this weeks column.
