An excellent article ran in the Strib today, and it's the first one I've seen that really covered the kid's perspective:

Basically, a kid with a terrible life found that the enormous, industrial sized high school he was at made his life even worse. There wasn't anyone there for him when all they could do is push the "product" out the door.
A lot of people are patting themselves on the back that they caught this one early, but it's a lie. They were far too late for this kid. Maybe he still has a chance, and I hope so, but the huge high school was very much a part of his problem. That we create institutions like this and lock children up in them is frankly appalling.
