A short note from the List Manager........

I'm just back from 4 days of participation in the National Conference on Dialogue and Deliberation. I attended one session with Kim & Barnett Pearce, who have been facilitating city wide dialogues in a variety of communities in California for several years.
As I am reading Kim's book, "Making Better Social Worlds: Engaging in and Facilitating Dialogic Communication" I came across the following phrase which is of particular interest to me, in the context of the St. Paul Issues Forum.
Kim describes dialogic communication as:
"Remaining in the tension between holding your
ground and being profoundly open to the other."I would encourage all of us to think about how we can hold on to our own passion for the issues and candidates we support WHILE remaining open to the viewpoints and ideas of others, even those with whom we have profound disagreements.
Just something to think about in the days to come......
Best wishes,
