My name is Marj Ebensteiner, and I am a candidate for re-election to the Ramsey Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) Board of Supervisors (District #3). I was first elected in 2000, and have served as chair and am currently vice chair of the board. I also represent our board on the Metro Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts, where I advocate for sound financial and environmental policies, and to make sure Ramsey County receives its fair share of resources.

Supervisors in Ramsey County are "nominated" from districts, but are elected by all voters in the county. District 3, where I am nominated from, comprises the entire Eastside of Saint Paul and some surrounding areas. Because our work, however, effects the entire district, voters in all parts of Ramsey County get to participate in the District 3 (and other district) elections

I hope you will support my re-election. I have worked hard to make sure the Board responds to the wishes of the public and the needs of homeowners, business and taxpayers through the type of projects I have initiated or supported during my first term.

Following are a few examples:

+ Woodland Marsh Wetland Restoration - 8+ acres in size

+ Watergate Marina - Runoff management and harbor stabilization plan

+ Lake Phalen Boathouse Rainwater Garden

+ Como Lake Shoreline Restoration

+ Bioengineered Stream Bank Stabilization on Rice Creek Municipal Wellhead Protection (White Bear Township, Saint Anthony and Vadnais Heights).

As a Supervisor, I will continue to work to protect Ramsey County's soil and water resources, and also to improve the quality of our urban environment.

The RSWCD also helps private homeowners with cost share to establish rain gardens or to do natural landscaping. We work with communities ranging from inner city community councils to lake owners organizations and we do public projects such as the Lake Phalen Rain Garden.

I encourage you think about ideas for a natural resources project in your neighborhood or town. Our website is: WWW.RAMSEYCONSERVATION.ORG, or you can e-mail me directly ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and I will pass your ideas along.

My history of service to our county and community is deep. I have served on the steering committee of the Friends of Lake Phalen, and served on the my local community council's board of directors. In Saint Paul, I served three terms of the Neighborhood STAR (Sales Tax & Revitalization) Board that allocates funds to neighborhood redevelopment projects. I am a cofounder of the annual Eastside School Supplies Drive effort in my neighborhood.

In my professional life, I am employed as a Management Analyst the State of Minnesota Department of Transportation. I have worked at MnDOT for 25+ years. I earned by BS degree from Saint Cloud State University. A Saint Paul homeowner, I have lived in Ramsey County for 30 years.

Thank you.
