Do you mean owner occupied buildings like Mn Life of Ecolab or Government or

John brings up a very good point... I posed Erik's question to a fellow in the know probably as much as John and he brought up the same thing.

He explains that you will find clues in the BOMA report but it describes buildings, not tenants.

He also explains to me that the square footages are difficult to ascertain because the size of the tenancies are not published anywhere. Also, even in owner occupied buildings, you may find that they lease to outside tenants.

So you have a building you know it's size, but you don't really know how many square feet each tenant uses in the buildings. They give percentages of how much is occupied vs what could be occupied, but not who occupies how much.

But he figures, and from my personal observation I would have to concur, if what your curious about is who takes up the most space then the list would be something like:

1. State of Minnesota (by far the largest)
2. Ramsey County
3. City of Saint Paul
4. Federal government
5. St. Paul Travelers (formerly, The St. Paul Companies)
6. Ecolab
7. Minnesota Life (formerly Minnesota Mutual)
8. Qwest
9. Green Tree
10. Lawson Software

He also says that Diamond Products (formerly Gillette) is up there as well; they only have 35,000 sf of office space but a large industrial facility.

But again, no real way to determine their exact amount of space occupied... well I suppose the right Data Practices Requests and FOIA's to the top 4 would eventually get you some numbers, but for the rest.... well it's not really intheir best interests to tell you now is it :-)
