I appreciate Rick's post on this. I've been "zippering" my merges all of my life, but not without a serious level of road rage directed at me from the merged lane when I do, so I trust MnDOT will educate the public regarding this, emphasizing it as a good, not a discourteous method of merging. Of course, the idea that lanes reduce, say from four to three for one exit only to expand back to four after the interchange passes, as ever been an anomaly to me. I-94 in both directions at Snelling being the prime example locally.
