Thank you so much for giving Julie Seitz and myself a chance to tell you about Hour Dollars. I've scheduled two more orientations for February, and have included all four dates in the article below. Vicki Patschke ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- HOUR DOLLARS: Neighbors Sharing Skills Since 1998 the Hour Dollars program has provided a means for neighbors to exchange time and skills. It works like this: As an Hour Dollars member, you earn hours by providing a service (such as gardening, minor home repair, piano lessons, or driving) to another member who requested the service. You then use your earned hours to "purchase" a service from any member in the service directory. YOU decide what services you would like to offer. Everyone's time is valued equally; one hour of actual service is always equal to one hour of credit in the program, regardless of the type of service provided. Participation in Hour Dollars is free. We are a grass-roots organization completely run by our own membership. Anyone living in St. Paul or its surrounding suburbs can join. To get started, all you need to do is attend a 90-minute orientation. There you'll receive a directory of services listing all members, their phone numbers, and the services they are willing to provide. You'll also receive 3 free hours in your account to start you on your way. It's a great way to meet neighbors, build community, and get some work done in the process! Four orientations are scheduled during January and February. To reserve a place at one of the sessions, please call Vicki at (651) 644-9759 at least 2 days in advance.
